Catalonia's Civil Protection will send two ES-Alert messages to seven comarcas placed under red alert for Saturday 17 October, warning of locally torrential rain. The first, for Maresme, Vallès Oriental and La Selva, covers rain expected from 14:00 to 20:00, while the second, for Barcelonès, Baix Llobregat, Garraf and Vallès Occidental, expects the heaviest rain between 20:00 on Saturday and 02:00 on Sunday 18 October. Clara Brucet, head of Meteocat's forecasting and monitoring team, said the rain is not expected to be as widespread as the episode of early October. Catalan president Salvador Illa urged maximum caution and asked people to follow emergency services and Meteocat forecasts.

Further south, the Generalitat Valenciana's emergency coordination centre raised the rain alert to red for the northern coast of Alicante and the southern coast of Valencia, with the situation expected to begin at 10:00 on Sunday 18 October, according to Aemet. Valencia's city council closed parks, the Turia Gardens and municipal cemeteries, and cancelled a concert at the Palau de la Música for the 700th anniversary of Corpus. The council also closed city tunnels once rain begins. In Murcia, Aemet set two orange rain periods for Sunday 18 October, from 00:00 to 10:00 and from 21:00 on Sunday to 06:00 on Monday 19 October, covering zones including Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón. Cartagena city council put evacuation plans for flood-prone areas on pre-alert and readied three schools to shelter residents in Los Nietos, La Manga and Isla Plana. In Andalusia, Antonio Sanz activated the flood preemergency plan on Saturday 17 October after Aemet issued an orange rain alert for Almería from 12:00 until midnight.
