The PSOE Federal Committee met this Saturday, 17 October, in Fuenlabrada (Madrid). Its members unanimously proclaimed secretary general Pedro Sánchez as the party's candidate for the presidency of the Government in the general elections of 29 November, and ratified the Congress and Senate lists that the Federal List Commission had approved the day before. In Extremadura, Yolanda García Seco heads the Congress list for Badajoz and José Luis Quintana heads the Senate list there, while Irene Pozas García leads the Congress list for Cáceres and Joaquín Cuello Martínez-Pereda leads the Senate list there.
According to the party, 52% of the Congress lists are headed by women, the first time there are more women than men at the top of those lists, and the PSOE presents 444 women and 443 men to the Cortes Generales. The Federal List Commission changed the Castilla y León proposal, removing former regional secretary Luis Tudanca from the Senate list and placing Mariluz Martínez Seijo on the Congress list in Palencia. Emiliano García-Page, president of Castilla-La Mancha, did not attend the committee, which he considered a formal meeting with no room for speeches, according to sources close to him.
