At the "Blue Eye 2026" drone operator training held at the 25th Air Cavalry Brigade in Nowy Glinnik near Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Kosiniak-Kamysz announced the creation of the Dron Legion on Wednesday, 14 October 2026. The formation will bring together civilian drone operators who would support the Polish army in the event of a conflict. According to the minister, it will not gather soldiers but people who support the Polish army, work as drone operators and hold the relevant certificates.
We need hundreds of thousands of drone operators.
Kosiniak-Kamysz said every squad in the Polish army will be equipped with drones and every unit must be able to operate them. He also ordered an urgent strategic review covering anti-drone systems, long-range precision capabilities and artificial intelligence. Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak said more than 560,000 certified drone operators already work in Poland and that the Civil Aviation Authority will carry out the project together with the defence ministry. Next year about 33,000 pupils from 500 uniformed school units are to complete drone training, finishing with an exam at the Civil Aviation Authority.
