Podemos will not run candidates in Catalonia for the general election on 29 November and will instead back ERC under a collaboration deal. According to informed sources, two independents linked to Podemos are set to take places 6 and 10 on ERC's Barcelona list, and their names will be known once the result of Podemos's open primaries is published on 16 October. ERC list head Gabriel Rufián will campaign outside Catalonia alongside Podemos MEP and former minister Irene Montero. Podemos also put the deal to a members' consultation open until 14:00 on 16 October, the day the deadline for registering electoral coalitions closes, asking members to ratify it. Talks with the Frente Amplio alliance stalled over Madrid, where Podemos secretary general Ione Belarra said the party would take any list place if primaries were held and urged IU to negotiate bilaterally in other regions.
